Lyre’s Non-Alcoholic Jungle Bird Cocktail Recipe
Tropical cocktails will always have a special place in our heart. They’re fun, they’re festive, and they’re delicious!
But sometimes these drinks can be a little too sweet. In fact, there’s been more than one occasion where we were in the mood for something tropical and fruity, but opted against ordering a Mai Tai or a Zombie, only because we didn’t want all that sweetness. This is especially true for non-alcoholic tiki drinks, which taste even sweeter without the booze.
But that all changed when we discovered the Jungle Bird Cocktail.
Invented at the Kuala Lumpur Hilton in 1978, the Jungle Bird mixes the traditional ingredients you’d expect to find in a tropical cocktail – rum, pineapple juice, lime juice, etc. – but cuts the sweetness with the bitter Italian alcoholic liqueur, Campari. Though it sounds a bit strange, this blend of bitter and sweet comes together absolutely perfectly in the glass, giving you all the fruity freshness you know and love with tiki cocktails, but without the overwhelming sweetness.
Now, a few years ago, it would have been impossible to craft a Non-Alcoholic Jungle Bird Cocktail. But thanks to the incredible lineup of alcohol-free spirits from Lyre’s, a guilt-free Jungle Bird is now within our grasp. Using Lyre’s Dark Cane Spirit Non-Alcoholic Rum and Lyre’s Italian Orange Non-Alcoholic Spirit, our Virgin Jungle Bird Mocktail brings together all the same flavors of the original, just without the alcohol.
